The state capital of Düsseldorf is marked by a cosmopolitan lifestyle and the local zest for life – exciting contrasts which make this city on the Rhine a very attractive destination. Particularly famous flair can be found on the Königsallee, one of the most elegant shopping streets on the globe. Home to some of the world’s top designers, the boulevard also boasts jewellers, antique dealers, flamboyant boutiques and elegant street cafés attracting international visitors. The ‘Kö’, as this luxurious shopping promenade is known for short, has itself long been a catwalk for the latest trends.

And it is only a few steps away from the old town, famous for its rustic pubs and the local top-fermented beer speciality, Altbier. The Rheinuferpromenade linking the river with the old town is considered to be the most beautiful promenade along the Rhine. It is one of Düsseldorf’s most popular spots to take a break or a stroll and leads from the castle tower to the new MedienHafen harbour area, famous for its extraordinary mixture of listed industrial buildings and spectacular creations from top international architects.

26 museums, Schloss Benrath palace to the south of Düsseldorf, more than 20 theatres, a variety of concert halls and more than 100 galleries make Düsseldorf an international metropolis of art and culture.
