Sounds like the "sound of Cologne"

This record store, which has now moved to the southern inner city, is still being run by Georg Odijk, Frank Dommert and Wolfgang Brauneis, who together with the creators of kompakt are regarded as the founders of the “Sound of Cologne”. In the small, selectively stocked shop, there’s a good mixture of special electronic records.

In the text “Sound of #urbanana: Cologne” [LINK to LONG TEXT COLOGNE], Jan St. Werner from Mouse on Mars talks in detail about the role a-musik played in the creation of the Cologne electronic music of the 1990s. And why the basement floor of a shared flat on Brussels Square was of key importance here.
