Nativity play at the castle

Satzvey Castle hosts a medieval nativity play at its Christmas market. The Biblical events are acted out in Latin and Middle High German, translated by a herald to become comprehensible to the audience. The Burgweihnacht event will take place on all four Advent weekends in 2023.

Exhibition of nativity scenes

The exhibition of nativity scenes in Telgte has been firmly established as an annual event since 1934. Around 10,000 nativity scenes have been exhibited to date in the Museum Religio, formerly the pilgrimage and local history museum. Under the motto of “Christmas peace”, visitors can use a variety of approaches to get into just the right mood for Christmas, and also to end the Christmas season slowly in the new year. The exhibition is scheduled from November 11, 2023 to January 28, 2024.

Art made of ice

Joachim Knorra is an artist from Hallenberg in the Sauerland. He chisels small works of art out of ice for what likely is Germany’s smallest ice museum. Its sculptures are protected well from sun and heat. The Ice Museum is open for visitors every first and third Saturday of the month, or by appointment on other dates.
