Relax at the beach in NRW
Lying under palm trees, feeling the sand with your feet and look over the water - beach holidays in North Rhine-Westphalia.
In the Bonn city district of Oberkassel, visitors can relax right next to the Rhine. In addition to the sandy beach atmosphere and cocktails, concerts are also staged here.
Düsseldorf and neanderland
Treibgut calls itself an events beach and carries its visitors away to a pirates’ cove. Relax by day, celebrate by night. There are also exotic cocktails, a bonfire and a pool to cool off in.
Strand im Häusermeer, Haan
Strand im Häusermeer is a real city beach in the heart of Haan’s town centre, between Düsseldorf and Solingen. Loungers are available for relaxing. For anyone who wants to play some sport, there is beach volleyball as well as climbing. There is also an entertainment programme that includes theatre performances, beach parties and open air cinema.
Eifel and Aachen
The boathouse beach with its white sand and hammocks, picturesquely located by a lake, is unique in the city region of Aachen and in the Euregio. One special attraction is the barbecue boats, where up to ten people can barbecue out on the water. Not only are the boats equipped with a charcoal barbecue and table but also with electric motors, so they can be operated without a driver’s licence.
Cologne & Rhine-Erft-County
Cologne’s highest beach bar is located on the roof of a multi-storey car park. Yet it is quite cosy: Thanks to palms, beach chairs and sun loungers, you can really get into the holiday mood. Unlike the at sea, you also get a free view of the Cathedral here too.
Coconut Beach, Münster
The Münster locals do things in style and have had 400 tonnes of the finest quartz sand poured onto their Coconut Beach. Pool, palms, sun loungers and beach huts - these make every day a holiday. Every evening has its own theme, for example Monday is after-work salsa night.
The 1,000 square metre beach landscape at Aasee in Ibbenbüren offers relaxation and action: In addition to a lounge area, there is also a water playground, a boules court, a variety of beach bars and loads of events for all age groups.
The Lower Rhine region
Evita Beach, Grevenbroich
Loungers and beach chairs, a beach volleyball pitch and a variety of bars get visitors to Grevenbroich’s town centre into the holiday mood. Children love the large playground right next door, which allows parents to relax too.
The Ruhr Area
Here, numerous South Seas bars and a cocktail bar that is home to a stranded sailing boat provide mini-break holidaymakers with cool drinks. Relax on hammocks or loungers under the palms. For more active visitors, there are plenty of sports on offer.
Stranddeck Kemnade, Bochum
At the weekend, DJs spin the decks and start a great mutiny from 8 pm. Anyone who still wants to be active despite the heat can play beach volleyball by day.
Herr Walter, Dortmund
In summer, the event ship Walter, a converted commercial ship, is transformed into a beach with beach chairs and palms. The ship is moored in Dortmund Harbour.
Moog Garden, Dortmund
The popular Moog at Dortmunder U, in the heart of the city, has added an exciting garden. There are cool cocktails, a pool and music here.
Strandbar Santa Maria, Bielefeld
Strandbar Santa Maria is right at the heart of Bielefeld town centre. Old boats and overseas shipping containers create a special atmosphere here. The bar is made of an old Ford Transit that juts out of a container. Even in bad weather, the beach is open: 80 covered spaces offer protection from the summer rain.
Düne 13, Bielefeld
In Bielefeld, you relax at Obersee. Düne 13 provides the requisite holiday feeling.
Enjoy a homemade original Italian ice-cream with your toes buried in the sand - on the beach at the Eisklang bistro in Paderborn, right on Lippesee. While the water at your feet keeps you cool, reed-covered parasols protect against sunburn and sunstroke and provide a touch of the Caribbean feeling.
