Every year in the run-up to Christmas, festively decorated fir trees and all kinds of light installations transform Duisburg's sprawling city centre into an atmospheric, glittering sea of lights. The scent of cinnamon and aniseed, as well as of griddle cakes and speculoos, is in the air. And in the glow of more than 100 decorated wooden huts, you can find traditional arts and crafts as well as original gifts and Christmas decorations. For more than five weeks, the Duisburg Christmas Market attracts visitors from all over the region and from neighbouring countries. Year after year, children's eyes sparkle at the many great rides. You can watch the hustle and bustle from above on an exciting ride on the Ferris wheel. Father Christmas has live music in his luggage, and fairy tale teller Birgit Fritz will be there again to entertain her audience in the tent with captivating stories and wonderful fables.
