Siegburg
at the market place
25.11.2023 to 22.12.2023
all datesIt is a small world of its own that unfolds in the Advent season on Siegburg's market square below the Michaelsberg. More than ten dozen craftsmen, musicians, jugglers and well-travelled traders, dressed like people in the late Middle Ages, enchant visitors between authentically recreated market stalls. Torches, oil lamps, candles and tea lights bathe the tent city in mystical light as night falls. Friends of the Middle Ages eat and drink rustic food, the sounds of drums and bagpipes reach the ears, minstrels and jugglers demonstrate their skills and jugglers don't stop at the visitors with their jokes. Blacksmiths, strap cutters, rope makers, felters, broom makers and more revive long-forgotten or hardly practised crafts. There are original gifts such as certificates artfully decorated with a goose quill, a fortune teller who reveals what the future holds and an extensive programme for children. Viking adventures, children's craft time, the colourful woman (at weekends) make the Christmas market stroll in Siegburg a very special experience even for the little ones. A special attraction that makes children's eyes sparkle is the historic children's carousel, which is still operated by hand and invites you to take joyful rides. With fun and games, children are given an insight into the fascinating world of the Middle Ages.
Opening hours on Totensonntag, 26.11.23 18-20 h (without music/cultural programme)
