Traditionally after Totensonntag, one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in the Metropole Ruhr opens in Hattingen amid picturesque half-timbered romanticism: the Nostalgic Christmas Market. Experience a glittering festive programme for four weeks: on the picturesque church square, around St. George's Church with its famous leaning tower, the festive Christmas market stalls are grouped together, while you can listen to the melodious voices of the choirs and music groups from the tops of the "Singing Christmas Tree". As early as 1 December, Frau Holle makes her way in a splendid Christmas parade to the Old Town Hall, from whose window she shakes out her feather bed pillow every day at 5 pm. In the St. George's quarter and along the old city wall at Steinhagenplatz, artisans and designers display handmade individual pieces of art.
