Em Pöötzke

Interfused with jazz

The focus in the Mertensgasse is ageing in style and with charm. The house in which the “Em Pöötzke” is located is not just the oldest in the city. The jazz bar also has an impressive history. During the 1950s, live music was played here, with almost exclusively jazz being performed since the 1960s. During the course of the decades, the audience has become more upmarket. And yet, when it gets later, the uninhibited mood catches on and the saxophone wails, the drums beat away and the piano notes sound, you can feel the energy of the old jazz in almost every fibre of your body.
