Oberhausen was never known for its good camping infrastructure. But all the more for the party tents, which attracted guests in fantastic quantities on weekends. On Essenerstraße, for example, the Blue Moon, with "Old Daddy" boss Edgar Engel responding to the gigantomaniac tent hype and especially the "Music Circus Ruhr". At the stadium of Rot-Weiß-Oberhausen stood the 5,000 square meter giant tent of the Music Circus Ruhr. In its peak in the middle of the 90s, the parking lots around the giant tent were full, the guests arrived not only from the Lower Rhine, but also from Holland and Belgium. No wonder - even funk legend James Brown played his "Sex Machine" under the tarpaulin.
