Five days - cross-border cycling round trip visiting cultural and landscape highlights

Map of NRW

What could be better than combining cultural and culinary delights in the most apt and sensory manner?
Your trip begins in Kevelaer, the most important place of pilgrimage in Northwest Europe. The mystical atmosphere of the place will captivate you, for example at the Chapel of Mercy with the mysterious picture of the Virgin Mary or the Chapel of Candles, where hundreds of candles flicker. In the evening, you can try the exquisite cuisine with regional specialities.
Then it’s on past the small, rippling Niers river to the Dutch ceramics town of Gennep with its medieval town walls and the green canal. Take a little break at the marketplace and enjoy the view of the brick clinkered "Raadhuis".

On your way to your next destination of Kalkar, visit Schloss Moyland with the largest collection of works by the artist Joseph Beuys in the world. At the restored castle complex with its magical gardens, experience the inspiring combination of historical architecture and classical garden design with the sensitive works of one of the most important artists of the modern era.
What you will find in Xanten is also fantastic, because you can vividly experience the lives and goings-on of the Romans on the Niederrhein at the biggest open air museum in Germany. Our tip: enjoy a sumptuous meal at the “Roman Hostel” according to original ancient recipes.
Along the way, you can experience the "Rheinaue erleben” up close and personal.
