Parklichter Festival in Bad Oeynhausen
Open air concerts, a lightshow and family-friendly celebrations provide fun for both the young and young at heart
The Park Lights Festival has something to offer for everyone, from young music fans and young families to art enthusiasts.
On the first weekend of August every year, the Kurpark Bad Oeynhausen spa gardens in Teutoburg Forest are transformed into a festival site. The Parklichter (park lights) bathe the park’s neo-baroque bathhouses, playful fountains and ancient trees in outstanding light. Concerts, family-friendly celebrations, a lightshow and fireworks offer entertainment for both the young and young at heart. The festival in Bad Oeynhausen celebrates the park’s transfer to the city; the park was formerly owned by the British.
Friday at the festival is dedicated to music. The entire spa park is then opened and famous bands and singer/songwriters are presented on several different stages.
The open-air atmosphere against the backdrop of the gallery or Bathhouse II truly transforms these concerts into something special. At the same time, the historic theatre also provides a space for quieter sounds.
On Saturday at the Park Lights Festival, everything revolves around the theme of light. The spa park is transformed into a gorgeous and atmospheric scene that is only reinforced by illuminations, sound collages, artistic performances and installations. The highlight is the fireworks show synchronised with music.
On Sunday the festival area in the spa park is transformed into a playground for adults and especially children. The colourful entertainment programme for young families includes, for example, an obstacle course, face painting, a mobile bouncy castle and much more.
