Just by looking, can you guess what this place is? My small river, the Pader, gave me plenty of water, even in pre-industrial times and so numerous water wheels also shaped my cityscape. 20, to be precise, all of which powered my mills. My Stümpelsche Mill doesn't grind anything these days. But its water wheel is used to generate ecological electricity. Cool, right? Now, let's talk about how romantic it is here. The Stümpelsche Mill is picturesquely located at the confluence of the six Paderquell arms and the large black water wheel as well as the old mill house can be seen from afar. What’s especially nice here: In the Mühlenhaus, there is a small, cozy café with a terrace right on the water. Sustainability is a top priority here and of course, the environmentally friendly electricity that is generated on site by the water wheel is also used here which is super cool! It also tastes good here too – I’ll just say "potato waffles". You will also find a mill museum here so be sure to check when guided tours are offered again. It's worth it!
