The Orchesterzentrum NRW in Dortmund is a joint institution of the four state music academies of North Rhine-Westphalia (Detmold, Düsseldorf, Essen and Cologne) and the first cross-university training center for future orchestral musicians in Europe. The four-semester Master's degree course in Orchestral Performance prepares students for a career in renowned orchestras in a practical and targeted manner. For graduates of a music university who see their future in an orchestra, this Master's course offers comprehensive specialization.
The focus of the course is on training orchestra-specific skills and preparing for auditions and trial years. In addition to individual instrumental lessons, the curriculum includes audition simulations, rehearsals, orchestral studies, work analysis and ensemble playing. Performance coaching, relaxation techniques and mental training are also offered. Students on the Master's degree course in Orchestral Performance prepare not only technically, but also mentally for performance situations and auditions. Seminars on cultural management and music physiology round off the curriculum at the Orchesterzentrum NRW. The aim of the Master's course is to provide students with comprehensive qualifications for their future careers over four semesters and to increase their prospects of employment in a professional orchestra.
