The Kunstmuseen Krefeld are celebrating the 70th anniversary of Haus Lange with the exhibition "Teilweise möbliert, exzellente Aussicht", which focuses on the tradition of site-specificity. Since the 1960s, internationally renowned artists have questioned the identity of the Bauhaus villas Haus Lange and Haus Esters designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and developed experimental works for the rooms. The exhibition now explores the history of the locations using sculptures, installations, films, paintings and archive documents that shed light on the interaction between architecture and art. Works by Christo, Yves Klein, Claes Oldenburg, David Reed and Richard Serra, among others, are included.

However, the show not only offers a retrospective of past projects, it also enables the rediscovery of temporary, almost forgotten works. By combining contemporary art, modern architecture and archival insights, Haus Lange once again becomes a venue for innovative art experiments. At the same time, the renowned Gregor Schneider is creating a new, site-specific installation in Haus Esters that continues the dialog between space, art and the viewer.
