Green Zoo Wuppertal

Wuppertal

The Wuppertal Green Zoo is particularly committed to the protection of endangered animal species. In the idyllic surroundings, you can observe animals such as African lions and Siberian tigers in their extensive outdoor enclosures. With a bit of luck, you can even see these majestic big cats up close. You can get a particularly beautiful view from the Sambatrasse - a former railroad line that leads cyclists and hikers right through the zoo grounds and runs almost directly over the tiger enclosure.

Bird wedding in the Aralandia wedding aviary

Since 2021, Wuppertal Green Zoo has one more special attraction: Aralandia. This 1,000 square meter free-flight aviary offers its feathered inhabitants, including critically endangered hyacinth macaws, red-fronted macaws and blue-winged macaws, plenty of space to frolic, fly and flirt. As a visitor, you will be there live when the birds perform their mating rituals and the wedding market opens.

From apes to tomato frogs: Your animal discovery tour

Whether gorillas, bears, elephants, tapirs or narrow-mouthed frogs - there's lots to discover at Wuppertal Green Zoo! On a zoo safari, you can explore the grounds on your own and answer exciting questions. Or you can take part in a guided tour and learn everything you ever wanted to know about the animals from the experts. A special highlight is the evening tour, when the zoo is actually already closed and there is a very special atmosphere.

Events and special experiences

The Green Zoo Wuppertal invites you to various events such as concerts and festivals throughout the year. Whether in spring, summer, fall or winter - a visit is always worthwhile. And if you are looking for an unusual event location, you will find an animal-themed backdrop for children's birthday parties or even weddings here
