Fort Fun Aben­teuer­land

Ex­per­i­ence Wild West ad­ven­tures in Sauer­land: Europe’s longest sum­mer to­bog­gan run, hang-glider zip-wire, Lady­bird Roller­coast­er and loads more at­trac­tions at Fort Fun Aben­teuer­land.

Every summer, kids, teens and adults join the stampede to Sauerland for the chance to become cowboys and cowgirls as Fort Fun Abenteuerland opens up its gates for adventures galore. With 40 attractions over 75 hectares in Bestwig, Hochsauerland, there is more than enough adventure for both young and old. The theme of the park transports visitors back in time to the Wild West. The Devil’s Mine Rollercoaster provides a hair-raising ride through a gold mine, for example. Then there is Wild River – an exciting log flume ride. A number of shows also get visitors in the Wild West spirit, including the “Geheimnis der Silbermine” (Secret of the Silver Mine), which sees Sheriff Fuzzy rounding up some notorious villains.

Other highlights at the Fort Fun adventure park are the longest summer toboggan run in Europe and a hang-glider zip-wire, which zooms its passengers down the hill at over 80 km/h. Younger visitors will enjoy the Ladybird Rollercoaster and the gold panning site at Devil’s Mine, where as well as precious metals they can also find fossils and gemstones.

In 2015, animals will once again become an attraction at Fort Fun. Visitors can spot dwarf zebus, llamas, Jacob sheep, geese and other animals and even get up close to some of them in the petting zoo. And if the journey home is too long after an adventure-filled day, visitors can spend the night in one of the log cabins to complete the Wild West experience.
