Düsseldorf

The rooms display graphic gems, paintings from several centuries, treasures from the Düsseldorf School of Painting, icons of photographic history and exceptional craft and design art as well as important glass art. Impressive sculptures astound the viewers. Music lovers get their money’s worth at the Kammerkonzertsaal.

Anyone who enters the Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf will find themselves in a richly-filled treasure trove of art. The collection impresses with its variety and quality. Six focal points can be identified at the Kunstpalast, a living house of art between the Rhine and Hofgarten.

Paintings dating from the 15th to the 21st century are also part of the holdings, along with the 90,000 pages, drawings and print graphics in the graphics collection. Precious sculptures, furniture, crafts and contemporary design can also be discovered, as well as modern art including Expressionist and ZERO artworks.

Photography is the most important image media of the 20th century and in the future visitors will be able to trace the history of photography and its most important positions and movements. The permanent collection of around 3,500 high-quality prints is unique - both from a qualitative perspective and in consideration or its scope.

The Hentrich Glass Museum is considered to be the most comprehensive glass collection on the European continent with objects ranging from Ancient Egypt to modern studio glass.

On the walls, visitors can see important works by famous master painters such as Peter Paul Rubens, Angelika Kauffmann and Casper David Friedrich. Sculptures by Frank Xaver Messerschmidt stand next to busts by Johann Gottfried Schadow, whose most famous work is the Quadriga on the Brandenburger Gate. The bronzes by Auguste Rodin and works by Gerhard Richter are impressive – to name but a few of the many personalities whose work is represented at the Kunstpalast.

But it’s not just art lovers who get their money’s worth here: The Kunstpalast offers musical events in the Robert Schumann Hall, an integrated chamber music hall for big concerts, thrilling cabaret shows and breath-taking performing arts.
