Legoland Discovery Centre
Paradise for Lego fans
A must for all Lego fans: a Ruhr Area attraction where young and old can learn about the colourful bricks, learn new building tricks and take a brick they have made themselves home.
Adventures fit for a king, magic spells and landmarks of the Ruhr Metropolis, all painstakingly created in thousands of colourful bricks – it can only be the Legoland Discovery Centre in Oberhausen. In 2013, the Ruhr Area got its own theme park dedicated to the much-loved small coloured bricks and figures. Children aged 3 - 11 will love it in particular, but Lego fans of all ages will be amazed at what can be built out of Lego – they can even learn how the colourful bricks are made in the Lego Factory Tour. In the Model Builder Workshop, Lego experts reveal many secrets, tips and tricks for building with Lego.
Real attention to detail can be seen in the Lego replicas of the famous landmarks of the Ruhr Area, such as the Gasometer, Villa Hügel and Zollverein Coal Mine. Fascinating discoveries await behind every tree and shrub. A tour around NRW’s only Legoland Discovery Centre is a treat for young and old alike. After marvelling at the Ruhr Area in miniature, visitors can move on to the 4D cinema, which makes movies come to life with amazing special effects. And for even more realistic fantasy, kids can set off to rescue the princess or try to become Merlin’s best apprentice.
Younger visitors can even take a souvenir home with them in the form of a Lego brick they have made themselves at the Lego Factory. Other attractions in the immediate vicinity of the Legoland Discovery Centre include the Sea Life centre and the Aqua Park, which are in the Centro complex. Tired and hungry Legoland visitors can make their way to the Westfield Centro-Promenade for a wide range of restaurants, cafés and bars.
