Movie Park Germany
Thrilling rides, a 4D cinema and action-packed shows attract film fans to the Ruhr Metropolis
A trip to the Wild West? Or a taste of Santa Monica beach life? Visitors of all ages can get up close and personal with their movie heroes and enjoy a range of thrilling rides.
Movie fans no longer need to go as far as Hollywood to meet their heroes. In Bottrop, in the Ruhr Area of North Rhine-Westphalia, visitors can discover a 40-hectare leisure park with five movie-themed areas and attractions including spectacular rides, action-packed shows and a 4D cinema, where they can join in the adventures of Manni, Sid, Diego and Scrat, the well-loved characters from Ice Age.
Enjoy rollercoasters, shows and film experiences in different themed areas
In the “Hollywood Street Set” themed area, visitors can show their mettle by embarking on an expedition to the land of the dinosaurs thanks to the very latest film and animation technology in “The Lost Temple”. 4D technology and a 360-degree screen create an overall experience that blurs the lines between fantasy and reality.
Vampires and other horrible creatures get up to no good in the “Streets of New York”. Luckily, the greatest vampire hunter of all time, van Helsing, is ready to do battle with them in Bottrop. He has prepared deadly weapons in his workshop to eliminate the evil-doers once and for all. Visitors can put their courage to the test by joining him on a hair-raising hunt through the darkness on the impressively detailed “Van Helsing’s Factory” indoor rollercoaster. This themed area also offers the New York Broadway Show “Back to the Movies”, which takes visitors on a journey through the history of film.
In “The Old West” section, visitors can tackle the “Bandit”: this thrilling wooden rollercoaster is the first of its kind in Germany and reaches speeds of up to 80 km/h. For those who don’t mind heights, this section of the park also offers the “High Fall” and the “MP Xpress”, a suspended looping rollercoaster.
Children get to meet all their favourite characters in “Nickland”
In “Nickland”, younger visitors get to meet their favourite characters from the Nickelodeon channel. Kids can discover the world of SpongeBob SquarePants by boat, enjoy wild rides on family-friendly rollercoasters and go karting at the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Licence to Drive” track.
The “Santa Monica Pier” area with its palm trees and beach music gives visitors a taste of sunny California. On the Crazy Surfer and Jet Ski Pier Patrol visitors search for the perfect wave, while the “Santa Monica Wheel” gives them a fantastic view of the park.
