Paffendorf Castle

Bergheim

The castle, first mentioned as a bailiwick in 1230 and completely surrounded by romantic moats, makes for an unforgettable excursion. The extensive park in particular offers opportunities for a voyage of discovery: there is much to marvel at here: impressive sequoias, gingkos and giant arborvitae as well as extensive expanses of water that reflect the surroundings. The educational forest garden, which presents the plant world of the Tertiary period, is also exciting. The descendants of primeval trees, shrubs and bog plants from all over the world offer a vivid picture of the past. A brasserie in the castle offers enjoyment with a view of the park.
