From spring 2025, the LVR-LandesMuseum Bonn will be presenting the exhibition "The Rhine. Life on the river". The show will take visitors on a fascinating archaeological journey back several thousand years into the past - from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages. Finds and reconstructions in eleven chapters reveal how the Rhineland has changed time and again. Climatic changes and advances in civilization, for example, contributed to the constant transformation of the landscape.

Visitors can take a look at Stone Age tools, everyday objects from the Celts or wall decorations from Roman times. The double grave from Oberkassel, which is around 14,000 years old, bears witness to early settlement history. The remains of a wooden castle, on the other hand, refer to the early Middle Ages.

If you like, you can also learn about scientific research methods and museum work. The LVR-LandesMuseum presents modern research methods, various conservation and restoration techniques as well as new educational approaches. It thus highlights the new presentation of the archaeological collection in summer 2026.
