The "SEX NOW" exhibition at the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf explores sexuality as a cultural, political and social phenomenon: the focus is on the transformation of the sex industry towards more diversity and a female perspective. Artists, designers and activists address sexual self-determination, queer body images and the role of digital technologies such as dating apps and online pornography. Eleven themed rooms showcase a broad spectrum from latex fashion and queer photography to sex toys and media art. Guests can take a critical look at norms, shame and desire.
The show also raises questions about sexual freedom, ethical responsibility and cultural diversity. It sheds light on global differences in dealing with sexuality, reflects on the effects of conservative counter-movements and celebrates the emancipation of sexual minorities. "SEX NOW" wants visitors to rediscover sexuality beyond common clichés - open, inclusive and sex-positive. The exhibition is a powerful contribution to the debate on desire, identity and social change in the 21st century.
