The LVR-Niederrheinmuseum Wesel opens on April 1, 2025 with a new permanent exhibition. After several months of closure, it now presents the history of the Lower Rhine from a fresh perspective: the 1,400 square meter exhibition focuses on the Rhine as a connecting element for trade, wars, crises and cultural exchange. The exhibition links regional developments with overarching themes such as the printing press, scientific achievements and climate-neutral transportation in the Port of Duisburg.

The LVR-Niederrheinmuseum Wesel aims to bring the history of the region to life as a family museum for visitors of all ages. It uses interactive narrative forms and links the past with the present. Thematically, the exhibition ranges from humanism and the Reformation, industrialization and mass production to contemporary history and visions of the future. It addresses social issues relating to freedom, identity and tradition as well as questions about Europe's cross-border development.
