Experience 500 years of everyday history of the Rhinelanders: In 75 historic buildings, including farms, workshops, windmills and watermills, visitors can experience at first hand how people once lived and worked in the Rhineland.

There, glassmakers today use a pipe to make glasses and bottles from red-hot mass, just as they did 100 years ago. The permanent exhibition presents the stages of glass production and provides information about living and working conditions.

Founded in 1883, the Dortmund Museum of Art and Cultural History is the oldest of its kind in the Ruhr region. It displays exhibits from prehistory and early history to the 20th century on five floors.

The building ensemble consisting of the old town hall and the Gothic Heilig-Geist-Kirche church was opened in 2020 with a modern concept as a place for art, culture, leisure and togetherness.
