The internationally renowned director Wim Wenders has made history with films such as "Paris, Texas" (1984), "The Sky Over Berlin" (1987), "Buena Vista Social Club" (1999) and "Pina" (2011), capturing his visions on the big screen. Reason enough for the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn to dedicate the exhibition "W.I.M. The Art of Seeing" to the filmmaker, photographer and artist on his 80th birthday. Created in collaboration with the German Film Institute & Film Museum (DFF) and the Wim Wenders Foundation, it presents Wenders' multifaceted work using state-of-the-art image and sound technology.
Visitors to the immersive show can watch individual scenes from well-known film classics or the recently Oscar-nominated drama "Perfect Days" and learn more about the productions. The exhibition presents collages, photographs and drawings. It sheds light on Wenders' biographical influences and his artistic development with rare documents, props and personal commentaries. Special highlights also include a large-format cinematographic installation and an audio walk produced especially for the exhibition, in which Wim Wenders himself guides visitors through the exhibition
