From Ber­gisch Glad­bach to Co­logne


The following overview shows, alphabetically sorted by city name, where new hotels in North Rhine-Westphalia are planned.

Bergisch Gladbach

On the overgrown area of the Cox site, a hotel with 100 rooms is going to be built as well as apartments and busines sites. The owner of the land in Bergisch Gladbach is the Buhrow family, details of the opening are not yet planned.

Bielefeld

In 2025, an apartment building with a total of 223 apartments will open at Bielefeld's main railway station. Many of them will have their own kitchenette and can be rented for a day, a weekend or even longer.

Bochum

In Bochum's trendy Bermuda Triangle district, a Prizeotel hotel will open its doors. The 175-room building, with a spectacular two-storey glass facade, is scheduled to open in spring 2024. Together with coworking spaces and offices, the economy design hotel will be part of the new building complex called "Because".

Cologne

The operating company D-Quadrat Living plans to open the second apartment building of the brand "Das Schlafwerk" in Cologne in the summer of 2025, following its premiere in Stuttgart. The brand's long-stay concept aims to attract craftsman teams, families, and backpackers as customers. A typical Schlafwerk has 300 beds spread across four floors.

Ipartment, a provider of serviced apartments, plans to launch apartments at two locations in Cologne: 178 units are scheduled to be developed by autumn 2026 at the Cologneo Campus adjacent to the trade fair, with an additional 31 units set to be completed by the first quarter of 2025 opposite the opera house.

From Düs­sel­dorf to Erft­stadt


Düsseldorf

The opening of Ennismore's first Tribe Hotel in Düsseldorf is planned for 2024. The hotel will be built in the Friedrichstadt district and will feature a modern and contemporary style. In total, the Tribe Hotel will offer 146 rooms with comfortable furnishings.

In Düsseldorf, two new properties of the Numa Group are currently being converted or newly built. One of the properties is located between the Altstadt and Königsallee and will consist of 52 units. The opening is expected to take place in the fourth quarter of 2024. The second property is a new building in a central location that will have 30 units. 

Close to Düsseldorf's city center, Hyatt Place Düsseldorf Mercedesstrasse is scheduled to open in 2024. The 300-room building is part of the Tadao Ando Campus & Tower, a CO2-neutral office campus controlled by artificial intelligence.

Dorint is planning a new Essentials by Dorint hotel in Düsseldorf. The three-star superior hotel is being built between the trade fair and the airport and will have 137 rooms and suites, a restaurant, a bar, a lounge and a conference area. It should open in 2024.

A six-storey hotel building with 80 rooms, a restaurant and conference rooms is planned in the Oberkassel district, adjacent to the residential buildings on the Heerdter Sandberg. The target group is business people. The planned golden facade will give the building a special look.

The Dorint Hotel Group is to set up shop in Düsseldorf's new Deiker Höfe district, close to the exhibition centre. The 137-room property, with conference and event facilities, will be located on the corner of Am Hain. The Deiker Höfe is scheduled to open in early 2025.

Erftstadt

The Roots hotel group of IHR - International Hotels & Resorts will open a hotel in Erftstadt in the Cologne/Bonn region in 2024. The third hotel of the new hotel group will have 120 rooms, 41 of which are flats or family rooms.

From Gütersloh to Leverkusen


Gelsenkirchen

The Graf Bismarck urban quarter in Gelsenkirchen is getting a double boost. From mid-2024, 30 condominiums, lofts and offices are to be built directly on the marina. Residents should be able to move in in 2026. The same investor also wants to build a new hotel with 134 rooms on the harbour promenade in Gelsenkirchen-Bismarck.

Hattingen

Adjacent to the old town of Hattingen, a new urban quarter will be built on the brownfield site of a former industrial area, including a new hotel with 100 rooms on eight floors. Construction is scheduled to start in 2025.

Heinsberg

In the district town of Heinsberg, hotel guests will soon be able to stay overnight in discarded shipping containers. The location on Industriestrasse is said to be central and easily accessible. The new Tin Inn hotel will have a total of 10 double and 10 single rooms. The opening is planned for summer 2024.

Leverkusen

The flat provider Ipartment is planning to build 32 long-stay units in the former boiler house on the former railway site within the Green Cross in Leverkusen. The "industrial charm" of the brick building, which was built in 1948, is to be retained.

From Lake Möhne to Sons­beck


Lake Möhne, Sauerland

Work continues on the redevelopment of a former hotel on the northern shore of Lake Möhne in Sauerland. The new hotel is scheduled to open in mid-2024. The property will be a botique hotel with a total of 35 guest rooms and 68 beds.

Monheim am Rhein

A Holiday Inn Express & Suites hotel is being constructed at Monheimer Tor by 2024. The new hotel will be the first Holiday Inn Express & Suites in North Rhine-Westphalia. It will offer 142 rooms, including over 20 suites, and three-star comfort for both business and leisure guests on around 5,300 square metres - right in the heart of the city.

Solingen

The former tax office in Solingen-Ohligs is being converted into a hotel with 75 rooms. A 20-year lease has been agreed with B&B Hotels. The opening is planned for 2025.

Sonsbeck

The owners of the estate at Hochwald in Sonsbeck, near the Dutch border, intend to construct a three-story eco-wellness hotel in the Labbeck district covering 900 square meters. The building will be constructed according to ecological principles, with energy generated through renewable sources. Amenities for guests will include wellness facilities, a spa, yoga spaces, a rooftop terrace, and a heated outdoor pool. Construction is set to be completed by 2026.
