Cycling trips and holidays

North Rhine-Westphalia is the number one destination for cycling in Germany

The statewide network of cycle paths, linking all of NRW’s cities and municipalities with standardised signposting, is around 29,000 kilometres long. This is the distance from Cologne to Tierra del Fuego! Around 700 “Bed & Bike” accommodation providers in NRW welcome visitors on two wheels.

With a statewide network of cycle paths covering almost 29,000 kilometres, cyclists are free to discover unspoilt nature, quaint villages and large cities at their own pace, or even explore the entire length of a river. Forty themed routes take in important historical sites, river valleys and disused railway lines, all on well-developed cycling pathways. And cyclists keen to explore North Rhine-Westphalia don’t even need to take their own bike thanks to a well-distributed network of rental points. There is also a plentiful supply of “Bed & Bike” establishments offering rest and relaxation for tired limbs at the end of an active day. Meanwhile, those who prefer to take in the beautiful countryside without the effort of pedalling can rent an ultra-modern electric bike. With steep hills and long distances, no obstacle, only the views will prove breathtaking!
