    Numerous vantage points, which offer impressive views, are the flagships of the long-distance hiking trail. On its route from Altena to Korbach, the Sauerland-Höhenflug not only leads over the Kahler Asten, one of the highest mountains in North Rhine-Westphalia at 845 meters, but also past extra viewpoints such as the Schombergt.Westphalia at 845 meters, but also past extra viewing opportunities such as the Schomberg Tower near Wildewiese, the Heidkopf Tower in Hallenberg - and Altena Castle, one of the oldest hilltop castles in Germany.

    The Sauerland-Höhenflug also maintains its high level in between: it always runs above 400 meters and offers a special experience for hikers with its mixture of challenging climbs, varied nature and cultural insights. The 192 kilometers from Altena to Korbach can be easily divided into one-day and half-day tours, and accommodation along the route is geared towards hikers. In addition to this route, there is also a 200-kilometre route with a different starting point: it leads from Meinerzhagen to Korbach and is also scenic and challenging.
