Vosswinkel Wild Forest

Arnsberg

It is not man who sets the rules in the Vosswinkel wild forest, but the animals. Whether red deer, fallow deer or mouflon, wild boar, black stork or eagle owl: they all live here in the wild. Just as they have always done. And your visit won't change that. So it's quite possible that you'll come across a fire salamander or a stag beetle along the way. Because there are no paved paths in the Lüerwald forest, which borders directly on the Arnsberg Forest Nature Park. Instead, the three circular trails lead you along winding paths past natural forest ponds and open forest areas and through the thicket of the species-rich mixed forest with beech, oak and coniferous trees.

A pair of binoculars is a must when visiting the Vosswinkel Wild Forest. Hidden viewing platforms are the best place to spot wildlife and get a good look at the bird sanctuary, where the black stork breeds and the honey buzzard circles. There are also numerous interactive stations along the way, such as the whispering telephone and nature boards with interesting information about the forest and its inhabitants. And a large adventure playground will not only delight the youngest nature explorers.

A visit to the Vosswinkel Wild Forest is particularly exciting in the dark, when night hunters such as the eagle owl are active. However, an overnight stay in simple wooden huts such as the bumblebee or dragonfly house, the goat hotel or a tree tent is not for the faint-hearted. Because even when night falls in the forest and most of the animals are asleep, you can hear rustling and crackling all over the ground.
