The atmosphere in the lobby is almost sacred when the light falls through the high windows and pointed arches. Between the cathedral, the Gereon quarter and the Belgian quarter with its boutiques, cafés and trendy bars, the design hotel is housed in a neo-Gothic building from 1897, the former historical archives of the city of Cologne.
Cross vaults, high ceilings, pointed arches, Gothic windows, stucco and stone meet 20th century design icons, contemporary art and photography. Furniture classics by Eames, Arne Jacobsen, Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier or Verner Panton are not behind glass, but become part of the stay. Each room is designed differently and picks up on the history of the building. The Qvest is therefore less a classic hotel than a quiet work of art - and a special retreat.
