Düsseldorf & neanderland

City stroll with a visit to the Stone Age

Düsseldorf and neanderland are full of contrasts: shopping and nature experiences, modern art and Stone Age culture as well as event highlights and time out in the countryside - discover your ideal mix! The North Rhine-Westphalian state capital in particular celebrates diversity and takes individual needs into account. For example, there are various accessible city tours and a Wheelmap that provides an overview of wheelchair-accessible places.

A look into the past

The city on the Rhine is also known for its eye-catching architecture, trendy neighbourhoods such as Flingern and Bilk with their small shops, cafés and galleries, as well as renowned museums. But neanderland, the district of Mettman, which borders Düsseldorf to the east, also has exciting exhibitions on its programme. The Neanderthal Museum, for example, is dedicated to this ancestor of modern man and his habits. In Ratingen, the LVR Industrial Museum Cromford is the only museum in the world to show the processing of cotton into finished yarn using original machines from the 18th century. Visitors can enjoy coffee and cake in the historical ambience of the museum café.
