Philara Collection

Düsseldorf

The Philara Collection is a public exhibition venue for international contemporary art. In the former Lennarz glassworks in the central Düsseldorf district of Flingern, both solo exhibitions and themed group exhibitions are shown on 1,700 square meters. The Gil Bronner collection, which comprises over 1,800 works, can also be seen here. The program is diverse: in addition to collaborations with the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf - such as the past exhibitions Mirrors and Windows, Attempts to Be Many or What Is Steady Anyway? - solo presentations by internationally active female artists also take place here. For example, the Philara Collection hosted the first solo exhibitions by Mercedes Azpilicueta and Sumi Anjuman in Germany. In group presentations on current themes, such as Breathing Water, Drinking Air or Cutting the Puppeteer's Strings, we bring together young positions with those of established, globally active artists. In collaboration with other institutions, the Philara Collection also hosts events such as dance and theater performances, concerts, talks and symposia. On the roof of the double award-winning architecture, which was converted by Sieber Architekten, there is also a 550 square meter sculpture garden and a café featuring works of art, which operates as the Bulle Bistro during the day and as the Wine Bar by Bulle in the evening

Important information about accessibility: certificates

  • "Reisen für Alle" (“Travel for All”) is a nationwide, uniform labeling system for barrier-free travel. It offers reliable information on the accessibility of tourist offerings, such as hotels, attractions and means of transport. Providers who allow themselves to be labeled are checked for accessibility by specially trained surveyors. The results are published in detailed test reports so that travelers with disabilities know exactly which offers are suitable for their needs.
