Burgplatz

Düsseldorf

Burgplatz connects the Altstadt (Old Town) and the banks of the Rhine, two of the most typical places in the city. The old Schlossturm (palace tower), which dominates the cobblestone square, is the remnant of a baroque castle complex and today houses the Düsseldorf SchifffahrtMuseum (Maritime Museum). The staircase that leads from Burgplatz to the banks of the Rhine is a popular place to watch the sunset. When it gets colder, the museum's café at the top of the castle tower also offers a good view. The castle tower also attracted fans of the successful ARD series “Forbidden Love”, but caused confusion: many searched in vain for the various castles from the series in Düsseldorf, where the aristocratic TV protagonists were at home. However, the scenes were filmed at Schloss Dyck, for example, which is miles away.
