The Equitana celebrates equestrian sport
A pioneering trade fair
Top equestrian stars are regular guests at the world’s largest equestrian show: Olympic and world champions have shown their skills in the saddle for half a century by now.
The centre of equestrian sport moves to the Ruhr area every other year. Horse companies, breeding associations, internationally renowned professionals, and leisure riders will meet at the fairgrounds in Essen. They learn about new developments in equestrian sports equipment, husbandry, feeding, care, accessories, and clothing or can look at various horse breeds and riding styles.
Competitions in a number of equestrian disciplines attract just as much of a crowd at the fair as the popular show demonstrations do. These include western and baroque riding as well as classical show jumping or dressage. The “Hop Top Show”, where the best representatives of the international show riding scene demonstrate their skills in a mixture of musical and horsemanship performance, is accompanied by light and sound effects. Lessons, live training sessions, and seminars with great riders, national trainers, and outstanding instructors all are offered as part of the diverse programme.
Alternating with the Essen trade fair, the Equitana Open Air invites to the racecourse park in Neuss every two years. The open-air event also presents a vast variety of horse breeds and riding styles in the sporting, breeding, and show competitions.
