The "In the Realm of the Pharaohs" exhibition continues the success story of the Phoenix des Lumières in Dortmund: the new immersive show at the museum, which was launched in January 2023 as a digital art center in the former gas blower hall of the Phoenix West blast furnace plant, takes visitors on a journey to ancient Egypt.

As they walk through the former Phoenixhalle, guests are swept away by a powerful staging of the Nile. They meet Tutankhamun, Cleopatra and Ramses II, gaze upon the splendor of the pyramids and explore the secrets of the ancient world. Works of art, reliefs and sculptures in the form of meter-high wall projections allow you to dream of another time and a foreign culture in which mythology and religion determined the world view.

In addition to the exhibition "In the Realm of the Pharaohs", the Phoenix des Lumières also presents the exhibitions "The French Orientalists" and "Foreign Nature". The former presents a vision of the Orient as seen by French painters such as Eugène Delacroix, Jean-Auguste Dominique Ingres and Jean-Léon Gérôme in the 19th century. Zweite shows artificial structures and geometric patterns that interact to form industrial and mechanical landscapes. Fractal art artist Julius Horsthuis combines mathematics and art in this presentation.
