The Von der Heydt-Museum in Wuppertal is taking the award of the prestigious Dieter Krieg Prize as an opportunity to dedicate a comprehensive exhibition to the sculptor Jaana Caspary: The prizewinner, who studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Belgian sculptor Didier Vermeiren and previously assisted in Tony Cragg's studio, is known for her abstract sculptures based on banal everyday objects. By molding, mirroring and shifting the perspective, she transforms these objects and removes them from their original context, creating an exciting dialogue between figuration and abstraction.

The acquisition of a work by Caspary for the museum collection, which is linked to the prize, is the focal point of the show, which features large-format sculptures, wall reliefs and smaller works by the Wuppertal artist, who was born in 1988. The Von der Heydt-Museum thus gives visitors a deep insight into the artist's sculptural work and illustrates how she transfers the traditions of modern sculpture into the present.
