Berlin-based artist Marianna Simnett is known for her large-scale video installations, unusual sculptures and multi-layered paintings that depict radical new worlds. The exhibition "Headless" at the Max Ernst Museum Brühl of the LVR now sheds light on her exploration of surrealism. In a large-scale installation, Simnett unfolds her multidisciplinary practice between video, artificial intelligence, sculpture, painting and music. Visitors are immersed in dreamlike spaces that oscillate between seduction and disturbance.

The exhibition title "Headless" refers to Max Ernst's collage novel "La femme 100 têtes" (1929), whose visual language is a leitmotif throughout the show. Simnett has developed a new series of paintings specifically for this purpose, which takes up the visual narrative of Ernst's feathered alter ego "Loplop". By linking mythological motifs, current themes and her own alter egos, the artist creates hybrid narrative forms that interweave past and present.
