Picasso - Miró - Chagall

Free of charge

The Museum Abtei Liesborn in Wadersloh is showing the top-class exhibition "Picasso - Miró - Chagall", which focuses on three central representatives of the École de Paris. The show presents around 90 works from the collection of the Kunstmuseum Pablo Picasso Münster as well as three works on loan from Galerie Haas Zurich. It sheds light on how the metropolis of Paris, as a melting pot of modernism, became a decisive source of inspiration for Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró and Marc Chagall. At the beginning of the 20th century, Paris was a place where the international avant-garde gathered and style-defining developments took their course.

Each of the three artists brought their own cultural background with them: Picasso settled permanently in the global metropolis in 1904 to compete with the avant-garde. According to Chagall, he brought his native Vitebsk with him to the French capital, which cast its characteristic light on his pictorial world. Miró combined his Catalan roots with the avant-garde influences of the Surrealist movement. The exhibition creates a dialog between these three personalities. It presents visitors with a fascinating panorama of the artistic developments of the 20th century.
