With nearly 1,000 meters of elevation gain over 54 kilometers, this loop is one of the more challenging gravel rides in the region and will really put physically ambitious riders to the test. The start and finish are in Winterberg; from there, the route winds through the low mountain range landscape along long forest trails, quiet paved sections, and select singletrack trails. The tour’s demanding nature becomes apparent after just the first few kilometers: steep climbs alternate with fast descents, requiring both stamina and confident riding skills.
The route continues via Niedersfeld toward Bruchhausen, where the imposing Bruchhauser Steine mark one of the scenic highlights of the loop. A short walk to the rocks is well worth it—the panoramic view of the Sauerland makes up for the detour. Afterward, the route leads through the historic half-timbered village of Bruchhausen and back to Winterberg via Willingen and Küstelberg.
The mostly paved forest trails allow for smooth riding, while a few single-track sections add variety. An ideal choice for anyone looking for a challenging gravel ride with significant elevation gain and stunning natural scenery.
