Living culture and promoting cultural exchange: The Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany fulfills an official task. The institution shows up to four exhibitions at the same time. In addition, the hall offers top-class events, media conferences and concerts.

The Bundeskunsthalle in the former federal capital of Bonn is a platform for temporary exhibitions of international importance that attract large numbers of visitors. The federal and state governments are the sponsors of the art and exhibition hall, whose official task is to enrich cultural life in Germany and promote cultural exchange.

The museum always shows two to four exhibitions at a time on a total of 5600 square meters of exhibition space, including important temporary exhibitions of valuable art treasures and cultural assets from all over the world. Since the museum opened in 1992, more than 100 exhibitions from the fields of art and cultural history, science and technology have been presented.

Planted rooftop idyll invites you to take a stroll

In addition to important exhibitions, top-class events, media conferences and concerts also take place in the ambience of the building, whose architecture is particularly striking. The light towers with their stone cladding and copper sheet roof are particularly striking and can be seen from afar. Like the rest of the building, they are unmistakably recognizable and were designed by Viennese architect Gustav Peichl.

The planted roof idyll, which offers another 8000 square meters of space for works by renowned artists, was also built according to his design. Here - far above the hustle and bustle of the crowded streets - you can take an inspiring stroll through the greenery in the middle of the city. Nature lovers, for example, can wander back and forth between the planted beds and sculptures. They can recharge their batteries at sculpture and garden exhibitions such as "Goethe's Gardens" in the lovingly designed cultural oasis. The panoramic view of the Museum Mile suggests a follow-up visit to the Kunstmuseum Bonn, the Haus der Geschichte or the Museum Alexander König.
