The beauty industry is omnipresent with cosmetic products, fashion items and accessories. It generates more than 500 billion US dollars in retail sales worldwide. Enough reason for the LWL-Museum Textilwerk in Bocholt to get to the bottom of the phenomenon and dedicate an exhibition to it. The show entitled "Behind Beauty" questions trends and role models. On 600 square meters of exhibition space, it looks behind the scenes of entrepreneurship and mass production.

Who determines what "beauty" is? What is considered beautiful in our society? These and other questions provide space for discussion. The roles of advertising and social media are also critically scrutinized.
