The Duke Wilhelm Market is an idyllic Christmas market that takes place in the picturesque surroundings of Wülfrath's town church. Surrounded by Christmas-lit half-timbered houses in the Niederberg style, this market has a rich history dating back to Duke Wilhelm of Jülich, Cleves and Berg. After a devastating fire in 1578, which almost completely destroyed the then village of Wulfrod, the Duke granted his village four tax-free fairs, which led to the reconstruction of Wulfrod. In recognition of this generous gesture, the duke gave his name to the traditional Wülfrath Christmas market, which today comprises around 30 stalls. The market offers you a variety of culinary delights and an always successful and varied stage program.
