The Christmas city of Dortmund, famous for the world's largest Christmas tree, offers a wealth of stalls with gift ideas and culinary delicacies. Every year, it attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors from the region and abroad. The impressive Christmas tree on Hansaplatz, made up of around 1,000 spruce trees, and the multitude of stalls offering everything from gift ideas, clothing, toys and decorations to delicious food and drinks, make it a popular destination in the run-up to Christmas. Mulled wine, beer, Westphalian grilled ham, crêpes, bratwurst and fruit skewers with chocolate are just some of the delicacies on offer. The Christmas city of Dortmund extends over large parts of the city centre and has offered a special attraction since 2021: light installations along Kampstraße tell the story of the city from a Hanseatic city to a modern metropolis. Last year, visitors were able to admire a Hanseatic cog, a miner with a miner's lamp and a large Dortmund lettering, in whose letter ‘o’ they could sit down for a photo. You will only find out what the light installations will look like this year when you visit.
