It is a small world of its own that unfolds on Siegburg's market square below the Michaelsberg during the Advent season. More than ten dozen craftsmen, musicians, jugglers and well-traveled merchants, dressed like people in the late Middle Ages, enchant visitors between authentically recreated market stalls. Torches, fireplaces, oil lamps and candles bathe the tent city in mystical light as night falls. The palate is spoiled with delicacies such as flamed salmon, spaetzle, chestnuts and venison sausage. Mulled wine, mead and oriental mocha are just a selection of drinks to accompany the enjoyment.
The sounds of drums and bagpipes fill the air, minstrels and jugglers demonstrate their skills and jugglers do not stop at the visitors with their jokes. Blacksmiths, strap cutters, rope makers, felt makers, broom makers and more revive long-forgotten or rarely practiced crafts. There are original gifts such as handmade natural soaps, healing stones and leather-bound diaries. The fortune teller reveals what the future holds. Fun and games give children an insight into the fascinating world of the Middle Ages. A special attraction that will make children's eyes sparkle is the historic children's carousel, which is still operated by hand and invites them to enjoy a fun ride.
