Sauerland

Forests, far-reaching views and good air

The densely wooded region with its numerous lakes and reservoirs is an ideal holiday destination for a break in nature. If you want to relax and do something for your health at the same time, you can take a deep breath in various healing tunnels or in the spa gardens in Bad Sassendorf - pure air and mineral-rich brine have a particularly beneficial effect on the respiratory tract. Hiking trails or cycle routes take you to marvellous panoramic views. If the "ups and downs" are too strenuous for you, you can also explore the natural landscape on former railway lines that wind their way through the region.

Out and about in nature

In and around Winterberg, you can breathe in the healthy mountain air on accessible trails - and explore the area at the same time. In the immediate vicinity of the spa park, for example, the Schmantel circular trail offers a very slight ascent and beautiful views of the Orketal valley. The Hillebachsee lake in the Niedersfeld district not only offers water skiing, beach volleyball, fishing and swimming opportunities, but also a circular trail along the shore. The short 1.5 km route around the lake is tarmac and only has two small inclines.

Healthy time out

The good air and the brine deposits in the Sauerland have a positive effect on your health. In the Bad Sassendorf moor and brine spa, brine is brought to the surface in springs and wells. The freshly extracted brine water runs over blackthorn branches in graduation towers and makes the air feel like the sea. A brine bath or drinking therapy also strengthens the immune system and has a beneficial effect on the body.
