Franz Marc (1880-1916) is one of the most important Expressionist painters in Germany. He was a co-founder of the Blauer Reiter group of artists. His expressionist works fascinate with their bright colors and deeply moving themes. The Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen would now like to give visitors a comprehensive insight into the work of this exceptional talent with an exhibition at the K20.
The show presents some of his most important works and places the pictures in the context of their time. Visitors to Grabbeplatz in Düsseldorf will learn more about Marc's life, his color laws and theories. His dynamic depictions of animals in particular are given a special place here, as they stand for harmony and an intimate connection with nature and are a symbol of originality and purity.
