SEO Title:
Bielefeld Botanical Garden – A Green Destination

SEO Description:

The Bielefeld Botanical Garden is located near the city center on Kahlenberg, across from Sparrenburg Castle. Established in 1912, it now features more than 2,500 plant species in various garden areas. A special, non-plant-based highlight is even older: At the center of the grounds stands a typical Westphalian half-timbered house dating from 1823. Visitors who sit on a bench in front of it enjoy a beautiful view of the grounds and the surrounding area. Visitors can see collections of rhododendrons and azaleas, a rock garden, an alpine garden, and a medicinal and herb garden. The grounds are complemented by a water lily pond, a pavilion, paths, seating areas, and the geological time clock, which vividly illustrates the history of the Earth. The Botanical Garden is open year-round and free to the public.

You will look in vain for elephants, tigers and giraffes in Bielefeld's only zoo. Instead, you will come across chamois and marmots, lynxes and wolves. The animal inhabitants of the Olderdissen Zoo are all from Germany. Or as they say in East Westphalia: "are from here". Nevertheless, some of the birds may seem strange to you.
