The "Von der Wolle" exhibition at the LVR Industrial Museum Tuchfabrik Müller sheds light on the cultural and industrial history of wool as a natural material in the context of industrialization, fashion and the history of technology. In Euskirchen, visitors can experience how sheep's wool is turned into clothing - from shearing the animals to spinning and weaving to the finished jacket.

Selected exhibits from the crimping knife to the carding grinder to the men's cutaway vividly show how merino sheep, new machines and changing fashion trends have accelerated production ever since the 19th century. The exhibition poses the central question: who actually determined the development - the animal, the technology or the taste of the time?

Old fabric remnants were recycled early on, later synthetic fibers such as Perlon or Trevira replaced classic wool in many places. Today, the natural material is experiencing a comeback in the wake of sustainability, regional production and environmentally friendly fashion. Wool is durable, biodegradable and climate-friendly.

Visitors to the exhibition at Tuchfabrik Müller can also learn about topics such as animal welfare, moth damage and global supply chains.
