Beethoven's birthplace, a first-class museum landscape and plenty of Rhine romance - that's what Bonn and the Rhein-Sieg region are all about. If you are looking for the ideal combination of culture and nature, you can spend a relaxing and varied time here. Bonn is not only the birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven and as such a place of pilgrimage for music enthusiasts from all over the world. The Beethovenfest takes place here once a year - a world-class classical music festival with an annually changing thematic focus. The city also has a lot to offer in other arts and sciences: The Museum Mile alone combines a wide variety of exhibition centres in a very small space.
Romantic views of the Rhine
High above Königswinter, halfway up the Drachenfels and in the middle of the Siebengebirge Nature Park, sits a true dream castle: Drachenburg Castle. From here, visitors can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the Rhine and the surrounding countryside. The ascent can be made on foot or with a historic cog railway. The Siebengebirge stretches high above the Rhine and is known above all for its unique views of the river. These views as well as gorge-like valleys, densely forested peaks and rugged cliffs have been inspiring people for centuries.
