There are two rivers and three different regions to discover on the Ruhr-Sieg cycle path. The 113-kilometre route has few inclines as it largely runs along former railroad lines.

Following the good signposting, cyclists can enjoy a relaxed ride from Meschede an der Ruhr to Kirchen an der Sieg. The Ruhr-Sieg cycle path not only connects the two rivers, but also leads via Eslohe, Finnentrop, Attendorn, Olpe, Wendenn and Freudenberg through the Sauerland, Siegerland and even as far as the northern Westerwald.

Biggesee lake and museums

In addition to scenic sights such as the Biggesee lake, places and buildings along the way are well worth a stopover. In the "Dampf Land Leute" museum in Eslohe or in the Wendener Hütte, an old ironworks and hammer mill, visitors can learn a lot about the industrial history of the region.

The dam wall of the Biggesee lake and the "Alte Flecken" in Freudenberg with its historic half-timbered houses are further highlights for the eye and are perfect for a souvenir photo. Twice the route leads through a mountain: Cyclists pass through two former railroad tunnels: the Fledermaustunnel near Fehrenbracht and the Hohenhainer Tunnel near Freudenberg.

More panoramic cycle paths

The Ruhr-Sieg cycle route is well connected to the network of other cycle routes. It meets the Ruhr Valley Cycle Route in the north, the Siegtal Cycle Route in the south, accompanies the Sauerland Cycle Ring from Meschede to Finnentrop and meets the Bergisches Panoramaradweg in Olpe, which connects the Sauerland with the Ruhr region via the Bergisches Land.

In total, cyclists in NRW can now ride more than 300 kilometers of panoramic cycle paths on former railroad lines, one of which is the Ruhr-Sieg cycle path.
